JFP: Soli translation

JESUS Film Project: Soli Translation

WHAT IS MISSION 865

The Jesus Film is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Mission 865 is a project to translate the Jesus Film into the least reached 865 language groups that have a population of 50,000 or more. The Soli language is one of these.  These strategic 865 languages do not have evangelistic tools to reach their people. “JESUS” in their heart language is an effective solution for the problem.

WHO ARE THE SOLI?

Soli speakers inhabit the area east of Lusaka in Zambia.  This is the only part of the world where Soli is spoken. They live in very rural areas and their beliefs are founded in ethnic religion. Though Christianity is on the rise, cultural,  ethnic, and ancestral beliefs are an obstacle to true faith in Christ. The common language in the area is Chinyanja, but their heart language (mother tongue) is Soli.  The Bible has been translated into Chinyanja but only the gospel of Luke has been translated into Soli.

OUR HEART

While living overseas, the Jesus Film was the number one tool God used to bring people to Himself, especially in Africa.  Since it’s conception in 1979, the Jesus Film has been shown to billions of people around the world and more than 200 million people have indicated decisions for Christ following a film showing. The Jesus Film has been translated into languages spoken by 91% of the worlds population.

THE NEED

With the Lord’s help, we need to raise $46,500 for the translation and launch costs. Launch costs include delivering the film with a team, the first showing, equipping the local church with films and materials, training and discipleship.

PLEAE PRAY FOR THE SOLI TRANSLATION

Translating The JESUS Film takes countless people around the world working together.  The Soli speakers have a need to see the gospel in order to understand. As with so many other areas, seeing is believing and many don't read.
